Are Boudoir Photos Private? Here's How We Protect Your Images

If you've ever considered doing a boudoir photoshoot but wondered what happens to your photos afterward, you're not alone. Privacy is one of the most common questions I get from prospective clients, and it's a completely reasonable one. You're trusting your photographer with some of the most personal photographs you've ever had taken, so you should know exactly how those images are handled.

Will my boudoir photos be shared online?

Your photos are not automatically posted online, shared on social media, or used in my portfolio. I never assume that because you've hired me to photograph you, you've also agreed to let me put your images on the internet.

Some clients love seeing their photos featured on my website, while others don't want their images shared anywhere at all. Both are completely normal. You don't have to explain why you want privacy, and you should never feel pressured to share intimate photographs as part of your boudoir experience.

Who has access to my photos?

I personally retouch my clients' photographs, so your images aren't being passed around to a large editing team or sent to random people you've never met.

Your images are delivered through a private online gallery, and the printer I use for my albums and books has been in business for many years and are a trusted printer for myself for over ten years and for many other boudoir businesses around the world.

How are my photos stored?

Not on the internet or any cloud server. Once your session is over I do keep your photos forever, but they are stored on hard drives in a locked case that I keep in my home. If at any point you want to revisit your photos or something happened to your copies of them, I want you to rest easy knowing that I can send them back to you at any point in the future without compromising their security.

What about AI?

This is an increasingly important question, and I'm glad clients are asking it. I do not use AI to retouch your boudoir photographs, and I will never submit your photographs to an AI image generator.

Your photographs are retouched by me, alone. I believe you should know who is handling your images and how they're being edited, especially when we're talking about intimate photographs.

What should I ask a boudoir photographer about privacy?

If you're considering a boudoir session, don't be afraid to ask your photographer how they handle client images. Find out whether your photos can be shared publicly, who has access to them, whether editing is done in-house or by a third party, and whether your images are ever uploaded to AI tools.

A photographer should be happy to answer these questions. You deserve to feel comfortable and informed before handing over photographs this personal.

Your photos are yours

Boudoir photography requires a certain amount of vulnerability. You shouldn't have to add "I hope these don't end up somewhere on the internet" to the list of things you're worried about.

At Backroom Boudoir, I want you to feel comfortable from the moment you walk into my Downtown Los Angeles studio to the moment you receive your finished photographs. I'll guide you through your shoot, help you with posing and outfits, personally retouch your images, and respect your decision about whether those images are ever shared.

If you have questions about privacy or how your photographs are handled, ask me. I'd much rather you feel informed and comfortable before your session.
